NetFiles: Basics

This 2.5-hour course is intended for University of Minnesota faculty, staff, and students who would like to explore the basics of using NetFiles. NetFiles is the University's secure file storage and collaboration service.

Much of what is covered in this course is also covered in an online presentation.

Topics include:

  • sharing files with individuals or groups of users at the University
  • sharing files securely with non-University users through tickets
  • sharing files with the public
  • setting access permissions for shared files
  • using versioning to track changes to files
  • using logging to check who has accessed your files and when

Prerequisites

None.

Platform

This course is taught on both the Macintosh and Windows platforms using a supported web browser to access NetFiles.

Fees

No fee. Registration required.

Registration in this course is limited to University of Minnesota students, staff, and faculty.
